Just when I thought I’d tried every male anal toy that really mattered, the L’Amourose Rosa Rouge found its way into my toy box. And man oh man, this thing is a doozy. The only thing that would make it better is a wireless remote control.
This is more than just a butt toy…it’s a total anal vibration solution!
Rouge, by the way, is French for the color red. How appropriate!
In a nutshell, this device (almost) has it all.
- Internal heating element
- Dual motors. One in the base and one in the shaft
- Rechargeable with a very nice charge base
- Luxurious silicone coating
- Very strong vibrations
- It’s waterproof!
- The shaft is flexible. This could be a pro or a con, but if you like a device that can apply FIRM pressure to your P or G spot, this might not be the toy for you.
- It’s expensive (but worth it, in my opinion).
- Controls can be a bit tricky to operate while in the butt.
- The perineum massage isn’t as good as some other toys, as there isn’t a pronounced nodule to really vibrate that area.
The best price online for this toy is on Amazon. See it here.
This sex toy was sent to me, free of charge, by LoveHoney.com. In exchange, I agreed to give my honest and unbiased opinion. So here it is!
But first, some backstory
Over the past few months, a number of my readers have emailed me and asked specifically about the Rosa Rouge, and what I thought about it. The best advice I could give them was…nothing. Since I never used it or even saw it in person, I was unable to say much about it. Disappointing to say the least. It’s tough being a sex blogger when I can’t help a brother in need.
Then, one day, I got an email from a reader that changed everything and made me decide that I just HAD to have this bad boy. It’s the “best vibrator I’ve ever used,” he said, “the best thing since sliced bread!”
Now that’s a statement! It sounded totally BAD ASS. But could it really be that good?
Still, I was hesitant. I honestly thought I’d reached the apex of prostate pleasure, as I’ve enjoyed devices from many of the major players on the market. I’ve made my prostate tremble with LELO toys. Arched my back from mind bending orgasms with Aneros. And even rocked my way toward prostate nirvana with Njoy. How could it possibly be that good? And would it be better than everything else I’ve tried?

Ce jouet sexuel estime incroyable!
Before I even stick it in my bum, I like to lube it up (with water based lubes only!) and let it run for a minute or two. This gives it time to warm up. This is also a good time to get familiar with the controls. Shoving a cold toy in my ass isn’t one of my favorite things to do. Especially during the winter months, as I keep my bedroom cold. BRRRRR!
From the moment the large-ish tip of the toy plunges into my ass, until the final body shaking and mind melting prostate orgasm, this device is 100% satisfaction. I’ll admit that the initial shock of getting it in my back door tends to make me wince. This is one of the larger massagers in my collection, and it commands respect.
However, the discomfort quickly subsides as the toy glides into place. I generally move it into position before I even turn it on. But when I’m feeling freaky, shoving it in there on full blast can be a real rush!
Once its in there and switched on, it’s time to lay back and relax. Enjoy the ride from there on out!
One of my favorite episodes came when I was laying in my bed with my eyes closed. I imagined I was laying out on a sandy beach, somewhere in the Caribbean. I could feel a comforting warmth. Except this warmth wasn’t the sun hitting my face. It was the toy heating up, deep in my ass. An interesting, yet fulfilling sensation to say the least!
There was just something about that moment. It was dead quiet in my house, but I could almost hear the sound of waves crashing onto the sand. The pulses my body was feeling from the back and forth vibrators, and the warmth of the probe in my ass elevated me to an entirely new level of prostate nirvana.
Little did I know, those waves were foreshadowing something glorious. Yep, the waves were a precursor to the massive waves of orgasms I’d soon have.
An impressive climax, it was!
Did you notice that Yoda impression? 🙂
Needless to say, I came, and came HARD.
On with the review…
Everything you need comes in the box:
- Wall charger with USB cord
- Charging base
- The Rosa Rouge (of course)
- Warranty card
- A nice draw string storage bag
Note: the wall charger is the UK version in the picture. Make sure you get the one appropriate for your country, as this is different from the US version.
It’s damn sexy!
To be perfectly honest, this is the sexiest male sex toy I’ve seen in a while. The way it sits on the base. The gentle curve of the shaft. Its upright posture is inviting, yet provoking. When it’s charging on the base by my bed, it whispers to me…it says “let’s get it on…”
I just leave mine sitting on my night stand. When it’s time to charge it, simply line up the metal contacts on the bottom of the toy to the ones on the base. Once it gets close, it kinda “snaps” gently into place. Piece of cake.
Charge time – About 2 hours from nearly dead to full.
Run time – I get about 2 hours of balls out, high setting use on a full charge. Some sources mention 3 hours, but I personally haven’t seen that. Maybe if you run it on light or medium vibration modes, it’s possible.
I also like the included USB cord. It could be a little longer, but it’s fine.
I really like having a “base” for a charger, rather than a plug in. As much as I enjoy LELO toys, in order to power them up, you have to pull back a rubber flap or plug to expose the port. With Rosa, it’s a matter of “set and forget.”
A very high quality grade of silicone covers most of the toy, except for the plastic base. It’s on par with LELO and Tantus silicone. No imperfections. Collects very little lint. Feels REALLY nice. Good stuff.
This is one thing that’s not so great about this toy. The controls can be tricky when it’s inserted. I practiced using them before sticking it in my ass, so that helped immensely. They’re just not really easy to feel with the fingers, at least mine. As you can see in the picture below, the buttons aren’t really raised that much.
This is one of Rosa Rouge’s strongest assets: the dual vibrators with independent running modes. These vibes are outstanding, both in strength and the sheer number of combinations and intensities possible. One of my favorite modes feels like it’s rolling the sensations back and forth between the base and shaft. This one gets me almost every time! To orgasm, that is…
There are tons of settings here:
- 9 vibration modes
- 12 speed settings
- Use only the base vibrator
- Use only the tip vibrator
- Use them both
- Have them alternate
The possibilities seem endless.
Nowadays, I won’t even consider a toy that’s not waterproof. Rouge fits the bill perfectly, which is awesome for play time almost anywhere! In the shower, the hot tub, or wherever. No worries about lube or other messy stuff to jack up the toy.
This is one of the best in the business:
- 18 months full warranty
- Lifetime guarantee. This means you get a 50% discount if you need a new one.
Doesn’t get much better than that. Even better than what LELO offers!
Ok, I saved the best for last. This is the crown jewel of the Rosa Rouge. It’s called a thermal regulation system, which is really just a fancy name for their internal heating element.
I’m a total nerd when it comes to toys and gadgets, and I just HAD to find out how warm this baby would get. So, I pulled out my handy dandy laser surface temp gun to see for myself. As you can see in the pic below, the temp was 90.5 degrees fahrenheit (that’s 32.5 C for non US readers). Nice and toasty! It feels awesome!
Now, the specs on the manufacturer site claim 40 – 42 C of heat. I could only get 32.5. It is possible that the cool room, and the fact that it wasn’t contained (like inside a rectum) could cause the temperature to be lower than rated. Either way, this warmth is a welcome addition.
Overall, this is a damn fine sex toy. Great for him AND her! There are some pros and cons, but mostly pros. It truly is a powerful vibrator, with a vast array of modes. The fact that it’s heated makes it an outstanding device.
You may be wondering: “is the extra money for the heater worth it?” In my opinion, absolutely. You could always save money (about $50 US as of 12/13/2015) and go for the Rosa Extra Quiet. It’s almost identical, except for the heater and a couple less modes for vibrations.
But here’s the thing: if I’m buying a luxury sex toy, I expect it to last for YEARS. Divide that extra money into the years of use, and the price difference becomes immaterial. And in the case of the Rouge, choosing the upgrade is a no-brainer.
Here’s what I really like about it: It’s long! At around 6 inches, this toy definitely provides that extra reach that some guys (and gals) crave. For me personally, it makes it a bit easier to get off. I’m not certain if prostate location varies by how tall or short a guy is, but in my case, the extra reach does help. I’m about 6’3″ tall for reference.
I also like the contoured shaft. The bulbous tip that quickly narrows down at the middle helps keep the vibrator in place while I’m using it. No problems with it wanting to pop back out, even when contracting my muscles down there. This is a huge bonus.
Here’s what I didn’t like: That long shaft is quite flexible. It’s near impossible to apply leverage on the base of the toy to increase pressure against the prostate. This is fine if the user is content with the killer vibrations (which I am). It’s not optimal for someone that requires more firm pressure against the gland. If this is the case I wouldn’t recommend this toy.
Also, the control buttons are difficult to manipulate when going solo. Once it’s in position, feeling around down there isn’t much help. The user really needs to know the positions of the controls BEFORE getting started. In a nutshell, not much tactile feel on these buttons.
So is this prostate toy worth it! Abso-fucking-lutetly! It’s currently my go-to device. And will likely remain so until something else comes along that’s even better.
The Hugo by Lelo is the most similar toy in my collection, so I feel it’s worthy of a comparison.
Regarding the vibrations, there is no clear winner. The vibes seem equally intense. The only difference is the unique modes and patterns for each.
Overall, each has their distinct differences and advantages. Here are a few of the most important ones.
Advantages for Rosa
- The additional length is very nice
- The heated core is a very nice bonus that Hugo doesn’t have
- Better warranty
Advantages for Hugo
- Wireless remote…need I say more?
- A shaft that doesn’t flex much. Sometimes it’s necessary to apply some firm pressure, to get the tip of the toy rubbing the prostate as hard as possible. Can’t really do that with the flexible shaft of Rosa.
- It costs less
“So Dave, which one is your favorite?”
This is a REALLY tough choice, because they’re both awesome. If I HAVE to choose, I’ll take the Rosa Rouge, by a hair. The larger size makes me feel fuller (which I like), and the heat is a lovely, intimate sensation.
I recommend Amazon, because they have the best price I’ve found online, by far. See it here.
I usually include an informative video to complement my review, so here’s the best one I could find. You’ll notice that it’s advertised as a G-spot toy (for women), but I assure you, it works spectacularly for men as well. The presenter is pretty hot too! Enjoy!
I recently got on board as a product tester for Love Honey, and I’m pretty pleased with their product offerings and service. A huge selection of toys for men and women, with a nice, easy to navigate web site to boot!
