Bonus-buy slots explained - is the 'buy feature' worth it?

Some slots have a 'buy bonus' or 'buy feature' button that costs a chunk of money. What does it actually do and is it ever worth pressing? Feels like a trap...

It lets you skip straight to the bonus round / free spins instead of waiting for it to trigger naturally, for a set price, usually something like 100x your stake. Pragmatic Play really popularised it. Whether it's 'worth it' is debatable, the RTP is similar, you're just front-loading the variance.

The thing to understand is the cost. A 100x buy on a $1 stake is $100 a pop, so it chews a bankroll in a hurry, and you can absolutely buy a feature that pays back less than you paid for it. If you do it, size it as a real chunk of your bankroll, not an impulse. Personally I rarely bother.

Worth knowing they're actually banned in the UK now because of how risky they are. Tells you something. Fun once in a while but it's the fastest way to empty an account I've found.
